Remember of all the Sisters buried at Oakford

On 23 November Sisters Natalie, Anna-Rose and Immaculata from Ekukhanyeni joined a small group from the Sacred Heart Parish at Oakford to remember the lives of all the Sisters buried at Oakford.

Among the parishioners present were some who were born at Oakford, and who have had a  long association with the Sisters.

The parish priest was assisted by the deacon and the catechist.

The monument erected in the cemetery by the Department of Water Affairs names the Sisters buried from the earliest years at Oakford.

The older part of the cemetery falls inside the 100 -year flood line of the Umhloti River, and gravestones had to be newly laid some years back to secure individual graves.

The devastating April floods this year caused no major damage to the graves.
