Mourning the death of Sr M. Arnolda Surmann OP

Sr. Arnolda was born as Elisabeth Karla on 29 March 1934 in Oythe/Vechta. When she entered our Congregation in Neustadt in February 1952 at the age of 17 she followed her two sisters, Sr. Josefa and Sr. Kunigunde, who had already joined our Congregation in 1948 and 1949. God has already called both of them home. At her Reception she received the name Sr. Arnolda. After her First Profession in 1953 she was sent to South Africa in 1956. This had been her heart’s desire.
She faithfully served as a cook in many mission stations. In 1994 she was transferred to Neustadt. Sr Arnolda was available for the services needed in the house and for the community. In the same willing and friendly way, she looked after the welfare of the groups of guests who came to the convent at that time. She was remembered by many for her smile.
