Sr Immaculata Ngubane OP celebrated her 85th birthday on February 25th togehter with her fellow Sisters in Ekukhanyeni one of our mission stations near Durban (South Africa).

Father Dlamini celebrated a Holy Mass for Sr Immaculata. Then all met at breakfast, which everyone enjoyed very much. A special lunch and birthday cake rounded off her jubilee day with culinary delights. The best thing for all Sisters was that they were able to be together and celebrate the birthday of Sr Immaculata.

Sr Mackie, as she is known by everyone, is one of the first of the Oakford Zulu sisters. Just last year, she celebrated her diamond jubilee of profession on 8th September 2024 in the parish church at Ekukhanyeni Mission.

Although she is “officially” retired from formal ministry, Sr Mackie engages with the supervision of the kitchen for the convent and the AIDS center in Ekukhanyeni and is an active member of her small house community of four sisters.

We wish Sr Mackie all the best for her birthday.
