Encounter does good
Seven sisters from Kist travelled to the Sisters of the Redeemer in Würzburg together with their coordinator. After a warm welcome in the courtyard by the community leaders Sr. Caritas and Sr. Rafaela, the Dominican Sisters mingled with the Sisters of the Redeemer over coffee and shared their experiences with each other. There were also some joyful reunions.
The sisters then met in a larger group and talked about their respective situations with regard to organising their daily lives and dealing with old age, care and support.
Sr. Rafaela then gave a tour of various areas of the convent that have been renovated and remodelled. The sisters visited the columbarium, where the urns of the sisters are laid to rest.
The sisters were very impressed by the newly remodelled church: both by the simplicity of the space and the easy accessibility. They were particularly touched by the altar, which is made of oak wood from the Spessart and whose cracked and gnarled form is impressively visible. In addition, the professed crosses of the deceased sisters are kept under the altar's glass plate - now over 1200 of them: a special symbol of devotion and consecration.
It was particularly helpful that Sr Rafaela was able to awaken deeper understanding in the guests through her knowledge and spiritual expertise.
And so, the Dominican Sisters left enriched and grateful after an entertaining visit that had done everyone good.
The visit in Kist, to which The Sisters of the Redeemer were cordially invited, is now on the agenda.
