On 1 February 2024 Sr Marcella Füchtenhans celebrated her 85^th birthday with her fellow Sisters in the Senior Citizens’ Residence Kist.

After leaving school, Sr Marcella (Elisabeth) first completed a domestic and agricultural apprenticeship. She then attended the nursing training college at Marienhospital Lünen and, after completing her training, worked in hospitals in Lünen and Oelde for several years.

On her 25^th birthday, she joined our Congregation in Neustadt am Main. At her reception into the novitiate she was given the name Marcella. As a trained nurse, she was assigned to our Marienkrankenhaus in Flörsheim immediately after her First Profession.

She worked there for 17 years in the internal medical ward until 1983, when she took over the care of the elderly and sick Sisters, temporarily in Neustadt and then in Diessen am Ammersee.

In 2019, she returned from Diessen to the St. Josef convent in Neustadt and moved with the Sisters to the Senior Citizens’ Residence Kist in January 2023, where she is spending her retirement. Sr Marcella loves creative handicrafts and enjoys knitting socks, bringing joy to many people.
