Exchange in smaller working groups
On August 5th, all the Oakford Sisters gathered in an Assembly in Pietermaritzburg.
All the Oakford Sisters living in South Africa, apart from two who are currently visiting family in Germany, gathered in an Assembly in Pietermaritzburg/South Africa on August 5th. A special occasion indeed!
On the agenda was catching up with Sisters not seen in some cases for a long time, sharing faith and our common Oakford identity and mission, and remembering Sr Fidelia Wilp who had died the previous evening.
The Congregational Leadership in South Africa facilitated work on the calls of the Congregational Chapter in 2022 around governance issues in the future.
An important area for consideration during the day was information around the partnership between the Congregation and PADCA (Pietermaritzburg and Districts Care for the Aged.)
PADCA currently manages Villa Assumpta, home to elderly residents as well as our own Sisters, and is committed to taking on the long-term care of all Oakford Sisters resident in South Africa.
