Monstrance of the Oakford Dominican Sisters in the Holy Land

Corpus Christi procession with monstrance from the convent St. Josef in Neustadt.

With the monstrance from Neustadt of the Oakford Dominican Sisters, the procession of the Tabgha Benedictines on the feast of Corpus Christi went from the Church of the Multiplication of the Bread in the western part of Tabgha on the north-western shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel to the Pilgrim House of the Tabgha Benedictines. There, the monstrance is displayed in a glass case for all pilgrims who wish to pause in silent adoration.

The Oakford Dominican Sisters in Neustadt had passed on many sacred objects to other religious communities in the course of the closure of the St. Joseph Mission House in Neustadt. In this way, the monstrance, which originally came from the convent of St Josef in Diessen am Ammersee, which the Dominican Sisters closed in 2019, came to the Benedictine monastery of Tabgha on the Sea of Galilee. The Tabgha Priory on the Sea of Galilee belongs as a dependent house to the German-speaking international Dormition Abbey in Jerusalem.
