Five years ago, Dominican Sister Marie-Christopher Wehner returned from Volkersberg to Neustadt. Since then she has supported the parish community of “St. Laurentius am Spessart”.  The parish priest, Father Hermann Becker, thanked Sister in the following words, “With great passion, she visited the elderly in their homes and in the Senior Citizens’ Homes, prayed with them, brought communion and conducted services of the Liturgy of the Word. Her inner joy and a radiant smile let something of God's goodness shine through wherever she was. Thank you very much for that!  She is ending her ministry with us now and will be ready for smaller tasks in the convent. We wish her God's blessings for the future with and in the Order of the Dominican Sisters in Neustadt am Main!”.

The Staff of the “Diakonische Seniorenzentrum Haus Lehmgruben”, too, thanked Sister Marie-Christopher and bade her goodbye with a solemn prayer service.

For six years, she visited “Haus Lehmgruben” as a pastoral assistant and, with her friendly and cheerful nature, held prayer services, participated in the Catholic Mass and spent time with the residents.  On their birthdays, Sister took gifts and poems to the Senior Citizens on behalf of the Catholic parish.

Many residents and staff members of “Haus Lehmgruben” attended the last prayer service prepared and conducted by Sister Marie-Christopher.  At the farewell, Nicole Boyn (vocals) and Annette Veeh (harp) surprised her with an Irish song of blessing. Facility manager Erik Schmekel thanked Sister Marie-Christopher at the end of the prayer service with a bouquet of flowers and a souvenir poster, which the residents of the Haus Lehmgruben had designed using colourful fingerprints.

Fellow sisters of the Neustadt community had also been invited to the festive farewell and to some drinks afterwards.
