Great "Helau" on carnival Tuesday

Andrea Pfeuffer, Conny and Wolfgang Maier and Simone Scherg surprised the sisters on Shrove Tuesday in their new home.

“Ay, ay, ay, ay in Näuscht Helau die Fasnacht in Näuscht is schüa”  - with the “Neustadt carnival anthem”, Andrea, Conny, Wolfgang and Simone greeted the sisters on carnival Tuesday in their new home at the senior citizens' residence in Kist. There was a big hello and an even bigger "Helau" all around. The sisters, who had moved to Kist in January, had not expected such a surprise.

Everyone was greeted with a red heart and a greeting from the heart

The joy was great and very warm. The four from Neustadt arrived in Kist in true carnival disguise - but of course the sisters recognised them right away. With red hearts and a greeting from the heart, they greeted the staff from the administration in the senior citizens' residence. Each of the sisters also received a sweet little heart. Of course, the delegation from Neustadt had also brought along the Franconian carnival food: doughnuts. These - and also the chocolate kisses - were devoured with enthusiasm.

Neustadt's carnival hymn has now been given a new verse

Then it was time for swaying and singing. Everyone sang the well-known carnival songs together. The Näuschter anthem now had a new verse after the departure of the sisters:

Ay, ay, ay, ay in Näuscht Helau in Näuscht Helau in Näuscht Helau
Ay, ay, ay, ay in Näuscht Helau the carnival in Näuscht is schüa (great fun)
In Näuscht there's no more convent, no convent, no more
Now the cellars aaa (are) also empty, the cellars aaa (are) also empty!
Ay, ay, ay, ay in Näuscht Helau in Näuscht Helau in Näuscht Helau
Ay, ay, ay, ay in Näuscht Helau the carnival in Näuscht is schüa (great fun)

Of course, after the musical excursions into carnival, Conny and Andrea had also brought along a little refreshment for the sisters. The homemade sweet quince and plum liqueurs were very tasty and lubricated the throats for the next carnival songs, which were immediately sung together.

The sisters in the convent courtyard were badly missed during the “Hä Machen” (hey making) on Shrove Monday

Andrea Pfeuffer told the Sisters with great regret that the first “Hä Machen” (hey making)  after Corona, which traditionally takes place in Neustadt on Shrove Monday, was – unfortunately - over quickly this year. Why? The station in the convent courtyard was missing! The sisters traditionally awaited the “hey making women” there, swayed and laughed with them and always served them delicious food. The carnival fools had to do without all this, which the carnival enthusiasts in Neustadt regret very much.

Then the sisters took out old photos of carnival celebrations from earlier years. Together they reminisced and the odd tear of laughter was wiped away.

Already on the Friday before the carnival weekend, the senior citizens - together with the sisters - had celebrated carnival in the senior citizens' residence in Kist. The sisters were also enthusiastically involved in a sit-down dance. A children's carnival group performed dances and entertained and enthused the residents in the senior citizens' residence.
