Outing of the elderly Sisters in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa

Srs Bernadette Zulu und Bernadette Hurley enjoyed the outing

Lunch together again without great distance

With the lockdowns of COVID taking their toll on everyone, it was high time to have some sort of an outing.

So, on the eve of Pentecost, 17 Sisters and our trusted friend and driver, Brian Walters, set off for a house in the country, just beyond Howick. The weather had been beautiful. On that day itself it was cold and overcast – but the spirits of the Sisters were high in anticipation of what was to come.

Three cars and the mini bus belonging to Villa Assumpta transported the Sisters with about seven rollators (zimmers) as well. When we arrived, the sun peeked out for a little while allowing everyone to walk around the beautiful garden and enjoy the fresh air and the autumn colours.

Lunch was meant to be ‘light’ with a choice of either soup and brown bread or quiche and salad. In fact, everyone had a bowl of soup and everyone had quiche. This was followed by an absolutely delicious apple pie with a choice of cream or ice-cream.

We travelled through a thick mist on the way home with everyone comfortably tired and satisfied after the lovely meal and the fresh air. Now there is anticipation of the next outing !!
