Friends of St. Martin de Porres achieves a lot of good
With the founding of the Friends of St. Martin de Porres project, something wonderful has grown over the years: a network that today meets many needs of the people in the informal settlement of Barcelona in Daveyton, east of Johannesburg (South Africa).
We regularly support this special initiative with donations so that help reaches where it is needed.The project addresses many areas: It accompanies children, adolescents, and poor families in diverse ways. A focus is on educational offerings and other services for preschool-aged children, so that even the little ones have good opportunities.
At the same time, the project strengthens needy adults and families so that they can better manage their everyday lives.Our sister Alison Munro OP has written a detailed, up-to-date article that highlights the impact of the project and the support that benefits the people.
