Together on the pilgrimage of hope
On 2 August 2025, a group of 35 Sisters of the Redeemer, staff members and fellow pilgrims gathered in front of the retirement home in Kist together with the Dominican sisters and some of the residents to begin their pilgrimage to Würzburg.
Coordinator Irene Schneider began the impulse with the pilgrimage of the Dominican Sisters, which took them via stops in Neustadt/Main, Dießen am Ammersee, Volkersberg, Flörsheim, Argentina, the USA and South Africa to the retirement home in Kist. Due to their age, pilgrimage on the roads is no longer possible, but the inner pilgrimage continues. The butterfly as a symbol of hope and transformation was unfolded using the butterfly reliquary, and everyone received a homemade butterfly as sustenance.
With the following communal prayer, the pilgrims set off and were bid farewell by the sisters:
May we trust in God and believe in his promise, take the next step
without knowing where the path will lead, moved only by longing and hope.
May we remain mindful, alert with all our senses,
searching and grateful for signs and words that strengthen our hope.
May we marvel at how, step by step, a path emerges,
the ground supports us, our hopeful anticipation intensifies and becomes a source of strength.
May we, like the caterpillar in its cocoon, endure the darkness and separation from life,
not lose hope in transformation, wait for life as a butterfly,
experience with Christ the transformation through death to new life.
So bless and accompany us on our path of transformation and hope:
You faithful God, you our companion Jesus, you living Spirit.
Amen.
