Strengthening faith and community
On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Office of Hispanic Ministry and the parish leaders of Hispanic Ministry from across the Diocese of Tucson came together to hear about the new National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry prepared by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Office of Cultural Diversity in the Church, and Subcommittee on Hispanic/Latino Affairs. The meeting was attended by 75 Hispanic ministry leaders from 21 parishes in Tucson, Yuma, Douglas, Nogales, Casa Grande, Sierra Vista and Maricopa.

Sr. Gladys Echenique, OP, a native of Argentina, has been the Hispanic Ministry Coordinator for the Diocese of Tucson for six years and has inspired many people to be trained as catechists and leaders to support the Hispanic members of the diocese. In 2019, Sr. Gladys was honored with the Alive in the Saviour Award in recognition of her tremendous service in building the faith lives of generations of Catholics in Southern Arizona.
