The Jubilee Mass of the centenary of the Oakford Dominican Sisters in England took place on 31 May, the Feast of the Visitation, at St Luke’s Church in Pinner.

Due to Corona restrictions, only a few parishioners and friends could physically attend. Among them was Sr Sarah O’Rourke, the only Oakford Dominican Sister still present in England, who is lovingly cared for at the St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Pinner. Many others, friends and families in Ireland, as well as Oakford Dominican Sisters in South Africa, Germany and the USA were able to join the Centenary Mass streamed on line from St Luke’s, Pinner.

Fr Robert Plourde, a longstanding friend of the Sisters, preached the homily.

After the Mass, the ashes of Sr Maura Kelly, who died on 19 January 2021, were laid to rest in the “Garden of Remembrance” at St. Luke’s, Pinner.

The Dominican Sisters of Oakford wish to extend a heartfelt vote of thanks to the Priests, parishioners and the many people behind the scene involved in making this celebration a joyful occasion, in spite of a sense of loss and ending.
